Hydrometer Temperature Correction Calculator

Adjust hydrometer readings for sample temperature differences from calibration temperature.

How We Calculate This

Temperature Correction

The correction uses the density of water at different temperatures. The formula calculates the ratio of water density at the sample temperature versus the calibration temperature, and applies this ratio to the measured reading.

Best Practices

For the most accurate readings: cool your sample to within a few degrees of calibration temperature, ensure no air bubbles on the hydrometer, read at the bottom of the meniscus, and spin the hydrometer to dislodge bubbles before reading.
